He was looking for his cufflinks. The nice silver and emerald ones that Neville and Millicent had given him for his birthday two years prior. He'd looked all over the moderately clean apartment for them and couldn't find them anywhere. He'd flooed Adrian and Marcus, Hermione, everyone but Neville and Millicent themselves and he couldn't find them anywhere. It was really starting to drive him to distraction. He'd an event to attend to, and those matched more than perfectly with the outfit he'd had in mind. As head of House Zabini and heir to more than one powerful magical bloodline, it was vitally important that he look his station today. As he ran around the apartment, still looking for the thrice-blasted cufflinks, his wife was watching him amusedly from their sofa.
"Explain to me again why this is important?" she asked lightly, one hand caressing the slight bump protruding from her stomach. Blaise stopped for a minute and grinned at the sight of his barely showing pregnant wife. Crouching next to her, he twirled a lock of her red hair around his finger, "Because today is the day that I formally state my claim to you and remove myself from the pool of eligible bachelors at the Ministry. Their thrice-cursed betrothal and handfasting laws that they've instated didn't include people like you, dearest. Useful loophole and one I intend to exploit. Besides even if they decided to try and deny me, I'm Old Blood, powerful, and you are already carrying my child. Which means that under the statutes of 1066, they can't legally separate us. That plus our ancient binding cement our case." He dropped a kiss on her cheek. "Besides if they had tried to, I'd have just told them to bugger off and we'd find a place near Barry's." She smiled fondly at him, "You're going to wrinkle your robes if you stay like much longer." Blaise smirked, "That's what charms are for, sweetheart." He kissed her again. "Mmmm," his wife replied with a satisfied smirk, "By the way your cufflinks are on the small table behind you."
Blaise whirled around to see where she'd indicated and sure enough, there they were, gleaming brilliantly at him. "They were there the entire time weren't they?" He spoke, narrowing his eyes at the oh-too-innocent look on his wife's face. "I didn't put them there if that's what you mean?" She said demurely. Blaise muttered to himself before putting the cufflinks on and kissing Dulinte's forehead. " I'll be back after I've sorted this out, love."
This involves no other characters from TM and describes Blaise's approach to the Marriage Laws. His wife, Dulinte is actually from another reality entirely. In her reality, she's the "Chosen One." Very powerful, very old bloodline. Barry is the pub owner near where the realities have a gateway into each other.
